Emoji etiquette in the workplace

#3 - the workplace emoji guide.JPG

Here is a guide to how emojis are used and interpreted in the workplace.

  • The popular ones are ‘thumbs up’, followed by the ‘OK’, ‘starry eyes’, ‘smiley face’ and ‘raised hands’.

  • The best for giving a compliment are the ‘party popper’ emoji, followed by ‘raised hands’, ‘bicep’, ‘thumbs up’, ‘clap’ and the ‘star’.

  • The ones to avoid are the ‘kissing mark’, ‘two people kissing’, ‘heart eyes’, the ‘asleep’ emoji (38%) and ‘rolling eyes’.

So, if you’re going to use emojis, it’s the opposite of the old ‘caveat emptor’ term (ie: ‘let the buyer beware’). In this case it’s let the seller (or sender) beware!
